DistributionOS Capture

Privacy policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

DistributionOS Capture is published by 1436978 B.C. Ltd., doing business as DistributionOS. This policy explains how the Windows desktop app handles screen captures, recordings, captions, local project files, and optional transfers to a DistributionOS account.

1. Local capture and editing

The app accesses the screen, windows, microphone, camera, system audio, and pointer activity only when you choose a related capture feature and Windows grants permission. A project may contain screenshots, screen video, camera video, microphone or system audio, pointer coordinates, captions, edit decisions, and exported PNG or MP4 files.

Capture and editing work without an account. Projects are stored on your computer, under your Videos folder by default. The desktop app does not automatically upload projects, recordings, captions, or pointer data.

2. Local captions and dependency downloads

When you select Generate captions, the app downloads a pinned speech-recognition engine and English model from their documented upstream hosts. Transcription then runs on your computer. Your recording is not sent to those hosts for transcription.

3. Optional DistributionOS connection

Connecting a DistributionOS account is optional. If you connect, the app uses a secure OAuth flow and stores connection credentials in the operating system's protected credential storage. The default send action uploads only the final PNG or MP4 you choose. A separate advanced action can upload the editable project, including raw screen, camera, microphone, or system-audio tracks. The app shows this distinction before transfer and does not upload either form automatically.

Connected transfers are stored privately for the DistributionOS app you select and are handled under the main DistributionOS Privacy Policy. DistributionOS uses the transfer to make the final asset or editable project available to you and to coding agents you authorize for that app.

4. Desktop analytics, advertising, and sale of data

The desktop app does not contain advertising or third-party behavioral analytics. We do not sell personal information. Support information is collected only when you choose to send it to us.

5. Microsoft Store services

Microsoft processes Store downloads, installation, updates, and related Store diagnostics under Microsoft's own terms and privacy statement. DistributionOS does not receive your local Capture projects through the Microsoft Store.

6. Retention and deletion

Local projects remain on your computer until you delete them. Uninstalling the app may not remove projects saved in your Videos folder. You can delete those folders with Windows File Explorer. Optional files sent to DistributionOS follow the account and app retention rules in the main DistributionOS Privacy Policy. You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of connected account data.

7. Your choices and responsibilities

You can decline or revoke screen, microphone, and camera permissions in Windows, avoid connecting a DistributionOS account, and keep every project local. You are responsible for having permission to record other people, private communications, or protected content and for following the laws that apply where you record.

8. Children's privacy

DistributionOS Capture is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the desktop app.
